There is no server step required to open or use Soma. Leave your phone in airplane mode indefinitely and the app keeps calculating your rhythms.

Soma backups are strictly opt-in, encrypted on the phone before upload, and stored in a form we don't read. Recovery is tied to the account you sign in with so a new phone can restore your history safely.
Off by default
Cloud backup is never quietly enabled during onboarding. Soma works fully on its own until you actively turn sync on.
Encrypted before upload
Your records are encrypted on your phone before they leave it, and the upload only holds ciphertext.
Recoverable on a new device
Moving to a replacement phone restores your history through the account you signed in with — no data re-entry.
Partner projection
Symptoms, intimate notes, cervical fluid logs, and body weight are filtered on-device and never shared.

The optional assistant only receives high-level labels such as phase, cycle day, confidence, and mood or symptom tags — never your raw dates, notes, or precise values. Each reply is labelled with its source.
